USAF veteran visits RAFM, shares survivor story of sexual assault

U.S. Air Force Col. (ret.) Lisa Carrington Firmin visited Royal Air Force Mildenhall and RAF Lakenheath to host trainings on sexual assault trauma and workplace bias for military members, civilian employees and leadership across the tri-base area. The tri-base Sexual Assault Prevention Response team invited Firmin due to her military experience and survivor story.

Retired USAF Col. Lisa Carrington Firmin presents a gallery talk and poetry reading from her new book, “Stories from the Front: Pain, Betrayal and Resilience on the MST Battlefield." A book signing follows her presentation. The event, titled “Healing Through Writing: One Latina Combat Warrior’s Journey,” is in conjunction with Bihl Haus’ current war-and-film themed exhibition, “Perceptions - Reality – Projections,” by Patrick Putze. “I write personal and powerful expressions of military sexual trauma (MST) and PTSD from my own deeply entrenched lived experiences,” Firmin said.
